The Ottawa Valley Girls Hockey Association would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Robert Chartand Memorial Tournament Committee for their generous donation of $5000.
Robert Chartrand sadly passed away in 2021 as a result of a snowmobile accident. He was a beloved son, brother, family member, friend and a proud and devoted father to his daughter, Amelia.
He loved sports, especially hockey and softball, and when he wasn't playing, he was often volunteering his time to coach community youth and share his passion with them.
In his memory, The Robert Chartrand Memorial Tournament was established in 2023. This dual sport tournament sees teams competing in both softball and hockey. The RCMT Committee members work tirelessly to continue Robert's passion and legacy. The proceeds from this tournament are donated to various groups and organizations within the communities to contribute to youth sports and activities.
We encourage everyone to follow the Robert Chartrand Memorial Tournament on Facebook to keep up to date on sponsorship opportunities, tournament dates and all the amazing work they do in honor of Robert's memory.
Pictured here are Robert's family members who are presenting the cheque on behalf of the RCMT Committee. Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Ottawa Valley Thunder Girls Hockey assocation is Robert's daughter, Amelia Chartrand, and her U13 B Thunder team.
Plans are already in motion to use a portion of the donation towards extra development ice for the Thunder players.
Thank you so much Robert Chartrand Memorial Tournament!
